"Why Doesn't Obama Care

about Fox ‘News’ Channel?" isn't even a question worthy of prolonged discussion, at least not by anyone willing to talk straight about the matter. As I've written here, in post after post after post after post, Fox “News” Channel isn't a news channel, it’s the propaganda arm of the RNC.

Fox “News” is just not news. It’s dishonest for people like Brit Hume and Chris Wallace* (I incorrectly referred to Mike Wallace in the last version of this post), who have actually worked for real news organizations in the past to pretend that it is, or excuse themselves and their bizarre partisan omissions and distortions as an alternative (to what? the facts?)

Every time anyone in elected office appears on Fox “News,” it’s just another layer in the veneer of a false legitimacy for this 24-hour establishment-touting charade that Rupert Murdoch has foisted on the American Public. I’m glad the White House isn’t willing to pretend along with the GOP anymore.

There are no potential Obama supporters or voters within the Fox “News” audience unless they are capable of not watching Fox “News” as though it were information and concede that it is a PR outlet for the Right Wing.
Why do I say that?
Because Fox “News” is the channel Americans turn to when they don’t accept what they see happening in reality. Fox “News” is the place where viewers can go to see Republican politicians and their policies always portrayed in a positive light, unless they don’t tow the party line, and Democrats and Liberals always portrayed as evil and “Unpatriotic.”

Barack Obama mostly ignored Fox “News” Channel during the Presidential campaign to no ill effect. Going on Fox, with the noted exception of Sheppard’s Smith show (Smith’s but a drop in its 24-hour cycle) makes about as much sense as phoning into Rush Limbaugh’s show.

Recognizing Fox as an enemy worth fighting is an admission of weakness for a president whose appeal has been partly predicated on the promise of unity," Chris Rovzar wrote on yesterday’s New York Magazine Blog.
I couldn’t disagree more.
What Anita Dunn and the White House are doing is not recognizing Fox “News” Channel. It’s not news, so the White House won’t deal with it anymore than they would “World Weekly News.”

You can watch “Fox News,” and enjoy it, even repeat what you hear on it, -but by their own admission, their star “analysts,” Sean Hannity, Bill O’Reilly, Glenn Beck are not journalists. They need to go one step further and take the word “News” out of their name. If we had an FCC actually concerned with something other than cursing and the occasional wayward tit on TV, Rupert Murdoch’s product wouldn’t be allowed to be so inaccurately promoted and marketed with such a misleading name.

Fox “News” Channel is not a news network.
That’s why the President doesn’t care.

I'm with you and the President, SJ. Fox "News" is a complete waste of time and a total insult to all intelligent minds. They are the National Enquirer of television news.

No Jack, you go too easy on them. They are the Raw Sewage of television news :)
Very good stuff SJ.

@Jack, Oso,
Agreed. It's a tired tread for me to run as you guys know, but when I hear people trying to say anyone has a responsibility to go on Fox "News" I have to point out they are as they themselves say repeatedly not journalists.

How about that Olympia Snowe, fellas?

First off, Mike Wallace works for CBS!!! which is hardly a bastion of right wing views!
And in my oppinion, journalism in this country has reduced itsself to the same credibility as Bild, Tass, Tanjug and the CSA DPRK and The Sun.

I'd be a bit concerned about a "news source's" objectivity who's selling Obama souvenirs with their logo on it! Not only does that show a bias but, it shows they have money / profit tied to the news they report about him!
Pop into the MSNBC and NBC kiosk and see what they're selling and get back to me about media bias!

It occurs to me that the huge majority of folks who voted Obama in watch not cable talking heads, but regular network news. Cluster Fox picks up large cable numbers because they entertain people on the merits of 'can u believe this shit' in a large part. I do think most folk are hip to Faux "news" and take it for what it is... then there is that vocal / screaming league of teabagging variety who represent X signing voters who take cleave to them for the fear they monger and find their reason for existence in.

Good post!

@Sepp,
SJ obviously meant Fox's CHRIS Wallace, who has indeed prostituted himself badly by doing Murdoch's bidding, and who has not even 1% of his father Mike's ability or integrity.

Fox is absolutely not a news network. They are a propoganda machine. They have no use for the truth. The fact that their slogan is "fair and balanced" is a joke. They are worth fighting because they are dangerous. There are some in their audience who mean this country great harm. I'm not talking about foreign nationals, I'm talking about Americans, who believe that their country has somehow been hijacked. These are the people who seem exclusively to turn on Fox "news". Fox is dangerous the way Sarah Palin is dangerous. To quote Forrest Gump, "Stupid is as stupid does".

@-Sepp,
Jack's right I meant Chris Wallace.
But let's get down to brass tacks shall we?
You haven't directly addressed a single thing I have identified about Fox "News" Channel. All you've done is try to make all News outfits everywhere in America, equal in either ineptitude or partisanship or "bias." It just doesn't wash, and even if it did, everything I have identified about Fox "News" still stands uncontested by you, and by Rupert Murdoch their owner.
In your "opinion, journalism in this country has reduced itsself to the same credibility as Bild, Tass, Tanjug and the CSA DPRK and The Sun."?
Really?
Well then you should have no problem with anything I have said about Fox "News" Channel, but clearly you do.
If you are concerned with objectivity, Fox "News" Channel should make you want to call the police.
CNN's cashing in on President Obama's popularity by making T-shirts or bobble-heads doesn't absolve the way Fox "News" Channel goes about business everyday.

@Gwendolyn H. Barry -very true, but it's weird how often I hear someting patently untrue on Fox "News" and then hear it parroted repeatedly during the morning commute by people in conversation as if it was from an actual piece of journalism and not an some "analyst's" opinion.
They need to drop "News" from their name.

I must admit to the heresy of watching Fox. Now, I have to be more specific and say I just watch the smoking hot giggly bimbos. Ailes must truck in huge containers of peroxide for the blonds.

If I want intelligent conversation and hot babes I watch MSNBC. Now Contessa Brewer strikes me as a prude but I can only imagine what she is like in the bedroom with that sly smile.....

I personally would love to discuss politics with Norah O'Donnell. I don't care how much peroxide they use on Fox, stupid is as stupid does.

I'll tell you where I find the most well researched, best interviewed and breaking news is where good ole Gonzo started it up: Rolling Stone. Matt T has put out some of the most ILLUMINATING / got past the rest / on all the news since last NOV. But that's just my opinion... Hunter Thompson is my ideal of a journalist and the only ones close to it out there are well...you know who I'm gonna be lovin' here... Miss Rachel and KO! There are others, but they are in print and only guest /// guess where? Just me...liberal - felonious - loud for tearing it down.
Pay attention to that woman behind the curtain! :-)
