Image via WikipediaIn the past two weeks this President, whom so many within his own party have chosen to label a weakling, or gutless or ineffective or worse than Bush, has guaranteed an extension in unemployment benefits, extended the tax cut to the middle class for two years, signed the most comprehensive overhaul of food inspection in more than a generation, got the START treaty through Congress, got the aid for 9/11 first responders approved and this afternoon put his signature on a bill to end DADT. And that is all I have to say about that.

And ain't it grand? Maybe now some of these far-left doom and gloomers will take a break from their negativity. If I could only wish.
btw, and I hate to mention this here but no email for you, but I put up a piece criticizing the far-left on my blog and The Swash Zone. Some very interesting comments as you might imagine.
Leslie,
I saw the commentary on both your blog and swash zone. First of all, it was a fantastic piece. I just found it today and I felt I was too late to the party to add much to what had been said. I wish I could have been there to stick up for you, but thankfully you had a lot of support. Along with all the things you said, I would also mention that this President, unlike the now beloved President Clinton, actually got health care passed and has put some measure of regulation back on Wall St. as opposed to repealing Glass-Stegal, which was the last barrier to the wolves at the door. President Clinton also took a drubbing in the mid terms, and yet I heard not a peep about running anyone against him in the primary. Do you think the standard for this President is a little bit different? Keep up the good work, Leslie. We need all the sane, rational voices we can find.
It has been one hell of a lame duck session hasn't it?! I hope this is just the beginning of good things to come in 011 and 012.
Mycue I don't know how to explain the utter disrespect for this president and his accomplishments. I think Fox and the wingnuts like Limbaugh, Beck and Palin have alot to do with it. I wasn't blogging when Clinton was president, was the mean-spiritedness just as bad during his presidency? There seems to be this FEAR that our liberal President Obama is destroying our democracy like no other democrat in history. It's fearmongering like I have never heard before. I have a VERY conservative brother so I get these stupid arguments all the time!
Thanks, My Cue. The comments at my blog weren't all that bad. SZ was a bit different. : ( I wanted to tell you about it but I hate to "advertise" on someone else's blog.
"Do you think the standard for this President is a little bit different?" Uh, yes - and on the far-left as well.
Everything you say about the right is true but look at our own side.
Mycue23,
It has indeed been a week of amazing accomplishment for President Obama. For all the bluster we heard from Republicans, in the end, they finally behaved responsibly and voted, for the most part, with intelligence. Let us hope that this spirit of "cooperation" will continue. I have not yet given up on Obama, and I hope he'll continue to persevere with his agenda. Merry Christmas to you and all who stop here!
I'm happy you're all happy! It's a nice thing for Christmas. I'm happy for the good, still not satisfied. But I know it's better to be happy with what you have / lest what is not there ... at this time of the year! So kudo's!
